Abstract EN
This study aimed at revealing the level of teaching staff member’s psychological Burnout at Irbid University College.
It also tried to examine the different levels of psychological Burnout in regard to some demographic variables.
The researcher determined the two following questions for achieving these aims: 1) what is the level of teaching staff member’s psychological Burnout at Irbid University College? 2) Are there statistically significant differences at the level of psychological Burnout that could be attributed to the variables of sex, qualification and experience? The study population consisted of all 110 teaching staff members’ at Irbid University College who still working in the second semester of the academic year 2010-2011, and the members has been responded.
The researcher used Maslach scale for measuring psychological Burnout at its three dimensions: effective exertion, dullness and feeling of lack of achievement.
The validity and reliability of the scale were verified.
For answering the study questions, arithmetic means and standard deviations were calculated for the estimation of teaching staff members at each dimension and at the scale as a whole, three-way ANOVA, MANOVA and scheffe’ test for post-comparisons.
The study revealed the following results: the level of psychological Burnout was medium and the first dimension (feeling of lack of achievement and performance) came in the first rank with a medium level of Burnout, followed by the second dimension (effective exertion) which came second with a medium level of Burnout.
The third dimension (feeling of dullness towards other people) came in the third and last with a low level of Burnout.
There was rot a statistically significant difference at all dimensions of the scale that could be attributed to the variables of sex and experience.
But the study revealed the existence of statistically significant differences that could be attributed to qualification and to the advantage of bachelor and master degrees.
In light of the findings, the researcher presented several recommendations.
