Abstract EN

This paper was highlights the experience of Sudan (Northern State) in the area of literacy, where the aim is to identify the efforts that have been made in the area of literacy in the Northern State of Sudan, and then evaluate the experiment.

The problem was addressed by the weakness in the efforts in the field of literacy mandate, and the lack of integration of these efforts, which relied on the use of the descriptive approach to reach signals and clarifications theory and logical incarnation contribution in the field of literacy.

Important results as, the most important: Do not embrace the vision, strategies and plans and clear in the area of literacy, lack of specialized staff and full-time literacy, the short duration of education for literacy, lack of regular programs paths sequential, link literacy programs in political action, weakness quantitative and qualitative efforts made in the area of literacy mandate, and lack of coordination.

It also reported several recommendations, including: work on finding and renewed political will towards eradicating illiteracy, providing real information and realistic status of illiteracy, distance from the political mechanisms in the implementation of programs and projects of literacy, integrate literacy programs within the strategy of social and economic development, creation of the Department for Literacy and adult education levels sequential parallel to formal education, creation of specialized cadres, with continuous training for all frameworks operating in the area of literacy, and to encourage research and studies in this area.
