Abstract EN

This paper aimed at studying the status of e-learning in Sudan from standard perspective.

It is based on the findings of two studies which were carried out to identify the status of e-learning in the institutions of higher education in Khartoum state.

The first study was "The readiness of the Sudanese universities for On-line learning".

It aimed at investigating the extent to which the humanities colleges in Khartoum State universities are ready to conduct successful e-learning.

The second study was "Measuring ICT use at Informatics and telecommunication colleges in Khartoum State".

It aimed at measuring the infrastructure, resources accessibility and the actual use of ICT in the teaching and learning process.

This study compared the results of these studies with Khan's e-learning framework.

The study revealed that the Sudanese Universities still need a lot of work to be ready for this kind of education because the universities lack the necessary factors on which the implementation of e-learning is established.

Based on this result the study outlined a future vision for improving this situation in strategic way from the perspective of Khan’s e-learning framework hoping that would help in starting planning with scenarios to postulate the future and improve the readiness of the Sudanese universities for providing successful and effective e-learning.
