Abstract EN

The purpose of this study is to find the relationship between critical thinking and self-monitoring.The sample of the study consisted of (757) male and female students selected from a population of (27115) male and female students in Yarmouk University.To achieve the goal of the study, researchers used the Test of California of the Critical Thinking Skills and Snyder’s The Measure of the Level of Self-Monitoring, 1974.

The Results of the study indicated that the level of critical thinking was at a low-grade while self-monitoring level was moderate.The results showed that the presence of differences in the level of critical thinking is attributable to the overall variable and academic level; there is an absence of differences in the level of critical thinking due to the variable of sex; the existence of differences in the self-monitoring level is due to the variable educational levels while the lack of differences in self-monitoring level due to the variable sex.The results showed that self-monitoring contributes to a variable rate of (0.71%) in the interpretation of skill analysis as a component of critical thinking.The researchers pointed to a number of recommendations including: the necessity to raise the level of critical thinking and self-monitoring of the students through appropriate educational environment that contribute to raise the students’ level of critical thinking and self-monitoring.
