Abstract EN

This study seeks to explore the nature of the Catholic missionaries in the Ottoman provinces, in particular Anatolia during the nineteenth century.

The research also attempts to shed light on the activities of the Catholic missionaries in the educational field as an example, and explains the beginning of the missionaries activities in the Ottoman Empire and the factors that facilitated their attempts in different provinces (Wilayat).

In addition, the study discusses the ways the missionaries utilized to spread their efforts in schools that were established in many districts within the Empire, and the attitude of the Ottoman government towards such activities.

Finally, the study ends with the results and effects of these missionaries activities on the Ottoman society.
