English Abstract

Jordan has witnessed since the beginning of the year (2011), like many Arab countries, a wave of protests and sit-ins and marches, prompted by changes of reform, in the political, economic and social development.

Social networking sites have enabled the way for the organizers of the events of the mobility of the mass, to participate and interact with the events, the level of motivation and move public opinion.

This study aimed to investigate the role of social networking sites, to stimulate the Jordanian citizens to participate in the activities of mass movement, using the survey method information, both descriptive and analytical, on the total sample (296) single, of trade unionists in the City of Irbid.

The main results of this study: -That the rate of (74.7%) of the trade unionists who use social networking sites, and (24.3%) of them used because they provide the opportunity to express their views freely.

-That (50.6%) of the trade unionists who use Facebook and (27.1%) use Twitter, and that the motives of their use of these sites is that it allows to communicate with friends by (28.5%), and provide the opportunity to express their views freely absolute rate (21.8%).

-The results showed that (56.6%) of the trade union involved (always, sometimes and rarely) in the mass movement, which called for reform and change in Jordan, through social networking sites.

-Topped the list of constitutional reforms claim Topics mass movement, which is attended by unionists through the social networking sites, and got a rate (14.4%), followed by demanding political and economic reforms and social rate (14,1%).
