Abstract EN

The current study is consistent with the educational movement which aims to ensure continuing education for all members of society, by enriching the distance learning system and provide it with all programs and instruments required to achieve its vision and mission.

This study aims to inquire reasons to enroll distance learning program and determine its roles in human development in the community.

The study sample consisted of students enrolled the relevant program in King Faisal University: (87) female and (53) male.

To collect data, a questionnaire was designed includes (27) items measure the role of distance learning in the community and (12) items measure the reasons for studying in the program.

Results showed that the most important reasons to enroll the distance learning program were completing graduate studies and improving standards of living.

Also, the most important roles were providing continuing education opportunities, ensuring education for individuals in far areas and allowing to persons in different work and social circumstances to learn
