Fatawa Question
A reputable rent-a-car company engaged in leasing vehicles to corporate clients has approached an Islamic bank seeking financing for the purpose of procuring new vehicles from the local market and overseas. Although financing is sought for four years, the customer does not want to use a Murabahah structure where the return is fixed, and is instead seeking a suitable structure with a floating return. Shariah guidance is sought in order to meet the requirements of the customer and the bank.
