This paper explores the rent-armed conflict link in subSaharan Africa.

Previous works on the resource curse suggest that the rent revenues can lead to violent conflict, because they strength state dependency to resources prices fluctuations and, undermine the compromise bases between ruler and citizens.

Also, rentier states are very vulnerable to the spread of rent-seeking behavior and predation politics, which in turn create serious dysfunctions within the social contract.

Civil wars in Angola and Congo are empirical evidences of rent negative effect on domestic stability.
