In this article, we are trying to shed light on the subject of French orientalism and itsrole, generally, in the study of Maghrebindialects and specifically of Algerian ones, during the colonial period, and showing the most important reasons and purposes for that, exhibiting the most important orientalistsworks in the linguisticfield (dialectology).
