Abstract EN

This study aimed to identify the attitudes of the members of professional associations (PAMs) attitudes towards the Jordanian political mobility during the Arab Spring era via delineating its efficiency, future, and role in the political reform process.

The study also attempted to pinpoint the PAMs’ stance from such mobility and their potential future involvement in its activities.

Besides, the study shed light on the extent of PAMs’ participation in this sort of mobility, along with the common means of expression they used to this end.

The study sample consisted of 661 members selected by a multi-phase sample.

Using a three point Likert-scale, a structured questionnaire was specially designed by the researchers to fulfill the study objectives.

Results showed that 86.7% of the PAMs participated in the political mobility; their participation took many forms, including writing and/or commenting on hard or soft copy newspapers.

Findings also revealed that social networks were the most common means used by PAMs, accounting for 77% of the used media.

Career and job demands formed the primary motivation behind PAMs’ participation in the political mobility.

Comprehensive economic reforms, on the other hand, came second as a major motivating factor for their participation in the activities of this mobility.

Moreover, findings explicitly indicated that the efficiency of the political mobility in the future, its role in the political reform process, PAMs’ stance from this mobility, along with their future potential participation in its activities are inclined to be passive.

Additionally, the attitudes of the PAMs towards the continuity of the political mobility in Jordan indicated that it is inclined to backtrack.
