Abstract EN

This study aimed mainly to identify the attitudes of Mu'tah University graduate studies' students toward social, cultural and personal functions of laughing, and to identify the extent of differences in their attitudes toward them, based on their qualitative and familial differences.

To achieve the goals of the study, social survey approach for samples was used with a sample of 245 male and female students, which represented 9,2% of the population of higher studies students in Mu'tah university.

Based on the relative significance for the sample members' attitudes toward laughing functions, the results indicated that the cultural functions came first at a high level with a mean of (3,85), followed by the social functions at a high level with a mean of (3,77), and finally came the personal functions at a medium level with a mean of (3,35).

The results also indicated differences between the study sample members' attitudes toward the cultural functions of laughing attributed to educational level, age, place of residence, income, and marital status variables.

In addition, the results indicated differences in attitudes toward social functions of laughing attributed to faculty type variable.

Finally, the results indicated differences in attitudes toward personal functions of laughing attributed to gender, faculty type, educational level, age and marital status variables.
