The objective of this research is to study the efforts of the pioneers of Speech Acts Theory derived from pragmatic linguistics trend through the determination of its concepts.
This paper exposes the main principles established by the English linguist, J.
L.
Austin in his famous work ‘When Speech Means Act’, in addition to the works of John Searle, by explaining their suggestions concerning the classification of speech acts.
