The Beginning of detective novel in Contemporary Hebrew literature is considered as one of the most important phenomena which distinguished that literature during the 1980s.
This genre has been absent from the Hebrew literature till that decade, and it could be seen as a more important addition than others which that literature had witnessed during the periods of its development.
"Batya Gur" was the first writer to deal with this genre in Contemporary Hebrew literature, followed by "Shulamit Lapid".
Both of them have their distinguished Contribution of supporting this new trend, then many Hebrew writers began to deal with this genre.
As a result, a huge and various number of detective novels appeared.
Many reasons led to the emergence of this kind of novels and breadth of its turf.
This study aims to trace the emergence and development of this genre in Hebrew literature as well as its most prominent writers
