Abstract EN

This study aims to interpret the relationship between public protests that erupted in Jordan in the period (2011-2014) and political reforms.

The main hypothesis in the study states that there is a positive correlation between public protests in Jordan and the political reform process in the period (2011-2014).

Moreover, the study aims at answering the following basic study question; what is the nature of the relationship between public protests in Jordan and the political reform process? To achieve the study goals and examine this relationship, the study used systems analysis approach being the best for analyzing the relationship between the political system and the surrounding environment.

It reached the following results: the first conclusion of the study is that public protests are marked by diversity in their methods and goals.

Second, public protests are marked by continuity since their eruption, but then they decrease with reforms done by the political system.

Finally, external factors such as the Arab Spring played an important role in moving Jordanian street protests.

The study provides a number of recommendations, the most important is the need for ongoing reforms by the political system to avoid potential future outbreaks of protests, and the necessity of putting strategic plans to analyze the protesters’ demands and find appropriate solutions
