Abstract EN

This study explores the role of the governmental and civil associations in Arabicization.

It focuses on the attitudes of the legislative authority towards Arabicization in Jordan.

The study also investigates the possibility of adopting a mandatory law for using Arabic as a medium of instruction in scientific majors in Jordanian universities.

The results of the study indicate that Jordanian Parliament members are in favor of Arabicization.

Moreover, they show that Parliament members perceive Arabicization as a means for reviving the Arabic identity.

The results display that Parliament members are highly supportive of a law for Arabicization.

It also reveals no statistically significant difference among the respondents' attitudes towards Arabicization due to age, education, languages mastered, and number of legislative terms served.

On the other hand, the study reveals statistically significant differences among the respondents' attitudes towards Arabicization due to political affiliation, authority and ideology.
