Abstract EN

Modern society suffers a number of challenges; most evident of which according to reality of status quo and through what many studies have revealed, is the emergence of both extreme thoughts and its opposite degenerate thoughts.

Thus, such societies have been victim of waves of extremism that resulted in the loss of societal security and proliferation of relevant crimes.

On the other hand, the latter has resulted in collapse of social and humane aspect of life that is impoverished of values as well as the spread out of diseases.

This study has revealed that extremism and absolution of values are two ancient yet-recent instances of civilization, and not a mere result of modern life.

Islam has portrayed these two cases in many religious texts germane to any muslim’s thinking and behavior.

Such texts has proven that a muslim is moderate belonging to a moderate nation.

The study has concluded, also, that moderation means absolute goodness, whether it is a description of a mid value between two extremes or whether it means the best and the most appropriate in cases of clashing values such as good and evil.

Perusing descriptive studies, the researcher has found that muslim youth become distant from moderation as a result of deviation from model values brought about by Islam.

Such extremism might be rationalized in such muslim societies because such extremism has been closely associated with extreme reality that has been absolved of Islamic values and the permeation of degeneration and evils; or because such a reality has gone to the extreme in interpreting Islam and implementing it not in accordance with Islam’s methodology of tackling such problems and healing social maladies.

The study has also shown that both extremism and degeneration have psychological, social and educational factors that pour together in the direction of one’s character and get him/her deviated from the model value that Allah has chosen for them.
