Abstract EN

A sample of 148 farmers was surveyed in 16 villages in Sweida province during two seasons (2007-2009) to capture the fertilization adoption indicators and the factors that affect farmer’s decision.

The stratified sampling approach has been used to determine the sample size.

Two models were used; the first is the Logistic model, which was used to demonstrate the diffusion of the technology in the population, and the second is the Logit model, which was used to determine the factors affecting the farmer’s decision.

The results of the study revealed that farm planted area, nutrition area, fertilizer cost, tree productivity and their ages, farm specifications, farmer experience, participation in extension activities, are considered the most significantly factors affecting farmer’s decision of adoption.

Adoption indicators showed that rate and degree of adoption are still low, while the intensity of adoption is related to the extent of adhering soil laboratories recommendations
