Abstract EN

The adoption of the economic development model, which is based mainly on manufacturing and which takes little or no consideration of the environmental issues, has led to the accumulation of environmental problems of all kinds.

These problems were of enormous economic, social and ecological costs.

This situation has led the international community to convene in more than one occasion to halt these ecological problems.

The first meeting of this kind was in Stockholm in 1972.From this event onward; the concepts of environmental protection began to take shape until the convention of Rio+20.

These conventions strove to further the ways and means, whether judicial, political or economic, to protect the environment.

One of the means to protect the environment, which usually comes out as a result of these conventions, is what came to be known as the principles of the green economy.

In the case of the Algerian economy, it has big potentials to explore such strategy of green economy.

What is needed, however, is the effort to be made to adopt an implement such model of economy.
