Abstract EN

This research examines the areas in which semantics overlaps with syntax and eloquence, on other linguistic and cultural sciences in Arabic language.

The study traces this overlap in the aforementioned fields from various analytical perspectives regarding the scientific identity of semantics.

It finds out that semantics might never have an independent identity among the other linguistic fields of Arabic because semantics always depends on other linguistic sciences such as syntax, eloquence, rhetoric, etymology, semiotics and even literary criticism.

In other words, semantics might not exist unless we define it in light of other linguistic fields.

Therefore, semantics should be reconsidered, redefined, and retheorized in a scientific way in which semantics is clearly defined to understand its relationship with other linguistic and cultural sciences
