Abstract EN

This studies touches on the characteristics of the work ambiance in the private Algerian TV channels, and its impacts on the correspondents’ commitments to standards and ethics.

Actually, the following contribution is based on a field study been undertaken between January and March 2017, and encompassed both correspondents and photographers of the accredited private TV channels in Annaba.

The study revealed that the correspondents were affected by a set of professional constraints and pressures linked to the specificity of the TV fieldwork, as well as financial difficulties due to a lack of means of work, and low salaries.

The correspondents have also been affected by a weakness in training to developing self-abilities.

At the end, the study field referred to the internal and external factors that affected the reporters in their work environment, and their commitments to the professional and ethical standards.

The correspondents have confirmed the proliferation of non-professional practices, like carrying out reports and TV coverage for money; or influence peddling o gain personal benefits.

The study concludes by emphasizing the importance of selecting good correspondents with media skills and highly professional principles.

In fact, many channels rely on photographers to undertake the reporters’ missions without priori training which makes their work unprofessional.
