Abstract EN

The present article analyses the phenomenon of sadness in the paintings of the Algerian artist Issiakhem.

It highlights the causes which led him pursue this approach; one of them was the painful reality that Algerians experienced during colonization.

His paintings were different in terms of the uniqueness in expressing topics of grief، and the brightness of colours used.

His work derives from a special wisdom that can be classified under the philosophy of ‘sacred hatred’ which may seem strange، but it is based on objective grounds.
