The concept "Locus of control" was linked to the social learning theory of Rotter.

This concept was developed by Phares and Gemes, which has occupied a very important position in personality studies ever since.

Psychologists describe Locus of control as a fundamental variable of personality.

It refers to how the individual perceives the factors that control the events and situations he lives, and the conditions that control and direct environmental events.

The individual may be refers his behavior in the different attitudes either to internal personal reasons, and thus the individual has an internal control, or refers to external reasons unrelated to his personal abilities and potentials such as chance, coincidence, influence of others, so he has an external control
