Abstract EN

The purpose of this study was to identify the parental socialization styles followed by parents of children with intellectual disability, and to identify phobias of children with intellectual disability from the age of (9- 12) years.

The sample of the study consisted of (40) males and females pupils (20 males, 20 females), with mild intellectual disabilities.

A scale of parental socialization styles, and a scale of phobias used.

The study results showed the following: more common phobias in children with intellectual disabilities was fear of the serpent, followed by fear of the darkness and then the fear of thief, while fear of school, father, mother and teacher were the lowest, also, the fear among females was higher than among males.

The results showed that there were significant differences between the dimensions of parental socialization styles according to gender, the results showed that the average of females in (segregation and domination and control) by Father was higher than the average of males also, showed that the difference between the two groups was statistically significant, whereas the difference between the average of two styles (Democrat, and extra protection) by father was statistically significant, and also differences between average of two groups in all styles by mother was not statistically significant, results indicated a positive relationship between the method of extra protection by father and the total score of the phobias and negative relationship between Democrat by father and the total degree.
