Abstract EN
The study aimed at investigating the effectiveness of a counseling program in developing self-concept, and evaluate it’s effect on psycho-social adjustment for underachiever gifted children, the study sample consist of (29) underachiever gifted students from wadi al-dawser primary schools, their age ranged between (9-12) years, and their self concept and their psycho-social adjustment levels are low.
the researchers divided them into tow equivalent groups, one experimental and the other controlled, each consisted of (13) students.
The researchers administered the following tools: selfconcept scale, Psycho-social adjustment scale and Counseling program based on some cognitive & behavioral techniques.
(prepared by the researchers).The researchers used qausi-experimental design, and by using non-parametric statistical analysis the study revealed the following results: Their were significance differences at (p < 0.01) between ranking average degrees of the experimental and controlled groups on self-concept scale and psycho-social scale on behalf to the experimental group.
Their were significance Positive Correlation between self-concept and Psych-social adjustment at (p < 0.01).
Their were no significance differences between ranking average degrees of the experimental group and controlled group on self-concept scale after follow up assessment (after 45 days).
