فاعلية القصص الاجتماعية في تحسين التفاعل الاجتماعي لدى الأطفال ذوي طيف التوحد في المملكة العربية السعودية

Abstract EN

The study aims to determine the effectiveness of social stories in improving the social skills interaction among children with autism spectrum in Saudi Arabia, and alleviating the symptoms of autism, a group of these children.

The current study consisted of a sample (16) of them children (8 males and 8 females) who suffer from autism, enrolled in Saudi Society for Autism in Jeddah ages ranged from 6-9 years.

The researcher using a scale Gilliam Autism (2004);and social skills scale before the start of the training program, and ,then apply the scales again after 8 weeks to apply the existing program on social stories during the first semester of the academic year 2016/2017.

After examining the hypotheses of the study using the Wilcoxon test and extract value Z.

Results indicated that there were significant differences in the means of performance of the experimental group between pre and post implementation of the two scales.

According to the results of the study, the researcher recommend to use social stories as a strategy to develop social skills for children with autism, in addition to train their teachers on how to select and develop such stories.
