تحليل محتوى مقرر العلوم للصف الثاني المتوسط في المملكة العربية السعودية في ضوء متطلبات دراسة التوجهات الدولية للرياضيات و العلوم (TIMSS 2015)‎

Abstract EN

The study aims at analyzing the Science Syllabus Content of Second Middle School in the Kingdom of Saudi Arabia in light of Trends in International Mathematics and Science Study (TIMSS 10 2015) requirements.

Both researchers used the Descriptive Research Design through Content Analysis Method.

The study population and sample are from all lessons contained in the Student Book and Workbook of the Second Middle School (First and Second Semesters).

To do so, both researchers prepared a list of TIMSS 2015 requirements based on dimensions set by the International Association for Evaluation of Educational Achievement (IEA) and Content Analysis Tool according to (TIMSS 2015) requirements.

The findings showed that the percentages of content dimension inclusion (Biology, Chemistry, Physics and Geology) in the science syllabus were low.

Thinking dimension levels (knowledge, application and reasoning) came at moderate percentages compared to the percentages set by IEA to assess the educational achievement.

Consequently, the study concluded a set of recommendations; the most important of which is to make a review of the KSA science syllabus content, including Trends in International Mathematics and Science Study (TIMSS) requirements.
