Abstract EN

The aim of this study is to identify the role of civil society in the political empowerment of Saudi women, specifically in the municipal elections held in 2015; and in which women took part, for the first time, as voters and candidates.

In this respect, the study used the concepts of civil society and political empowerment with using Modernity theory.

It also depends on the analytical descriptive method for analyzing many local Saudi newspapers and reports from certain Saudi organizations as well as Arab and International organizations.

The most important results from the study are ; 1- The efforts of civil society in the kingdom for the political empowerment of 1.

Saudi women are still limited.

2- Civil society is in need of making more effort to help Saudi women be politically empowered.
