Abstract EN

This study aimed at identifying the attitudes of the faculty members and the first-year students at the College of Education in Sudan University of science and technology toward using social networks in education.

Besides, knowing the most important benefits of these networks in education from their perspectives, and shed a light on the constraints that face the faculty members and students when using these networks.

The researcher used the descriptive analytical method.

The sample of the study consisted of (35) faculty members and (60) students.

The data were collected with two questionnaires; one for the staff and the other for the students.

The study concluded that the faculty members and the first-year students at the College of education in Sudan University of science and technology have positive attitudes toward using social networks in education.

They also agree that there are many benefits of employing the social media in education.

The study also found that there are some constraints that face the use of social media in education.

Based on these results the researcher made number of recommendations including: encourage the use of the faculty members of social networking in academic communication with their students.

Create closed groups in the social networks for each batch in the college to discuss the academic affairs.

Besides, teaching social media as assisting educational tool in the curricula of Educational Technology.
