Abstract EN

This study analyses the inclination towards religious extremism and ethical deviance among the faculty and students of KFU‟s College of Arts who use social networks.

The study was conducted from Muharram 1436 to Rabi‟ II 1437, and it relied on focus group discussions among KFU students in order to reach qualitative conclusions.

Questionnaires were also distributed among KFU faculty in order to reach quantitative results.

In this way, the study combined quantitative and qualitative methods.

The analysis focused on the methods of persuasion that extremists use to convince young people to join them.

The study also highlighted Saudi Arabia‟s effort to block internet content that contradicts ethical and social norms, and how Saudi society views religious extremism and ethical deviance and the methods of combatting them.

The conclusions reached in this study show that KFU faculty do not see students who use social network platforms concerned with combatting religious extremism and ethical deviance.

The student sample that this study analyses confirms the views of KFU faculty.
