Abstract EN

This paper aims to explain and analyze the relationship between demographic growth and food security in Algeria through the analysis of the components of Algerian’s imports of the main food products.

Also, in order to identify the main domestics food products and which are imported.

The study came to a group of results of which the most important are: many products such as wheat, meat, vegetables, etc., some of which are produced locally and others are imported for insufficient production, also, the Algeria's population structure is characterized by the so-called demographic window, in other words, there is a direct correlation between demographic growth and the Algerian food gap.

The study presented a number of recommendations, the most important of which is that the Algerian government would prefer to undertake strategic planning to exploit unused agricultural land to achieve self-sufficiency of these products
