Educational evaluation is considered as an essential part in the teaching/learning process because education process begins and ends with the evaluation.
Teaching through competencies was adopted in the Algerian educational system by the reforms of 2003.
The main focus of teaching through competencies is making the learner, who is considered as the centre of the teaching /learning process, in positions where he should raise his observation, analysis and interpretation skills.
But the question is how can middle school teacher, in Algerian schools, control the process of evaluation by competencies? The following questions are also raised: - What do we mean by educational evaluation and evaluation by competencies? What are the types of educational evaluation? - What are the most important means used by middle school teacher to control the process of evaluation by competencies? - What are the main obstacles that hinder the application of the evaluation by competencies?
