Abstract EN

The current research aimed at determining the effectiveness of a mobile social application based on the new media tools to support some Saudi families in dealing with some of the contemporary challenges.

The research was based on the analytical descriptive approach with respect to questionnaires and their analysis, and the semi-experimental approach regarding the development of the proposed application and its application to the study sample.

The sample of the study consisted of (61) husbands and wives from the Makkah region, who were enrolled in the graduate education programs at King Abdulaziz University and Jeddah, who responded to the study tools, while the sample of the study that interacted with the proposed application consisted of 40 individuals divided into two experimental groups Each with 20 individuals.

Three tools were developed to identify the most important contemporary challenges faced by Saudi families, to identify the reality of the use of new media applications by some Saudi families, and finally to gauge the views of households on the use of new media applications in the face of some contemporary family challenges.

The results identified the contemporary challenges faced by Saudi families in five main areas: economic challenges, social challenges, cultural challenges, media challenges and educational challenges.

Through the research, the "My family" mobile application was developed.

The research experience confirmed that the proposed model was more effective compared to the control group in facing contemporary family challenges from the perspective of some Saudi families.
