أسباب العنف و سبل مواجهته في الجامعات الأردنية من وجهة نظر الطلبة

Abstract EN

This study aimed at identifying the causes behind violence in the Jordanian universities from students viewpoints, and the means to face them.

It aimed also to clarify the signifcant differences between the averages according to the secondary independent variables of the study: sex, university, college, year of study, and study program.

To achieve the aims of the study, the researcher distributed a questionnaire to a sample of 739 students from Mu'tah )governmental university( and Jerash )private university(.

A suitable statistical analysis was adopted.

The results showed that there are many reasons which cause violence such as the weak ethical motivation among students, and the absence of students' meaningful activities.

With reference to the means of facing the violence phenomenon, respondents indicated that the most important are the modifcation of admission policies in order to ensure justice and transparency, and enriching the universities' environment by various curricular and extra curricular activities.

Besides, the results showed the importance of the student's year of study )0.05= α( in favor of the fourth year with reference to the causes of violence.

Also, it showed the importance of the sex variable )0.05= α( in favor of females with reference to the strategies of facing violence.

There were no signifcant differences regarding the remaining variables.

The researcher recommended the vitality of setting a new just basis in admitting students in the universities.

In addition, he recommended the necessity of securing a rich and inspiring university environment.
