Abstract EN

The study aimed-through an opinion poll and a collection of information from various institutions and official and non-official bodies which, in the researcher' s estimate, are active in the field of family counseling - to detect the main characteristics of family counseling in Algerian society-with the city of Relizane as a model-and to know what is expected of this counseling.

The descriptive approach was used for the current study, whose sample was chosen in a deliberate manner and consisted of (27) workers in the field of psychological and social services, mostly psychologists.

The results of the study showed that the reality of family counseling is not clear, and the culture of counseling is still immature in the Algerian family , particularly with regard to the therapeutic aspect of counseling.
