Education is considered to be one of the most important domains of sustainable development.
It has received a great attention in the United Nations’ development programs as it constitutes a solid basis of the bases of sustainable development, and all the intellectuals realize consciously the important and prominent role for education in general and higher education in particular in the development process of the communities, and this is what has been confirmed by the Earth Summit held in Rio in 1992.
This is the cornerstone of this study through which we aim at studying the effect of spending on education in maximizing the output of knowledge for sustainable development.
We have used the encircling style analysis of data in the study of this effect between the input of education from university education expenses and pre-university on the one hand and its specific output specific primarily related to sustainable development, relying on so many indicators such as patents and the indicator of countries’ capacity in using and employing knowledge as well as creativity indicators and so on.
The study goes further than that through making a comparison among more than 12 countries in this domain so as to find out in the end the most competent and the most capable in well employing its resources, and the most important ways and the necessary changes in order to ensure greater efficiency in spending on education in the domain of sustainable development.
