Abstract EN

The main aim of this research is to measure the perception of female Saudi government employees regarding the phenomenon of glass ceiling.

The specific goal of this research is to identify the causes and ways of overcoming the glass ceiling problem.

The research also seeks to examine the government's efforts in encouraging woman to breach this ceiling so as to fill leadership positions.

Data were collected from current administrative female employees working in the government sector.

The results showed that female employees in the government sector are to a certain extent aware of the problem of the glass ceiling.

In addition, the results indicated that organizational factors come in the first place as it contributes to the relative aggravation of the problem.

Organizational factors were followed by personal characteristics as second contributing factors.

Finally the majority of the study participants have agreed on the effectiveness of the government efforts to employ women in leadership positions.
