The Arab critical heritage, with its theses and issues, has been present in the space of contemporary critical discourse, a presence that is imposed by the complex historical and cultural context under a sweeping Western domination.

This has prompted contemporary Arab critics to position themselves in the interface between heritage and modernity through careful focus on keeping pace with the achievements of western literary theory' on the one hand, and working on monitoring its embryonic forms in the Arab heritage on the other.

So, to what extent have these attempts managed to create a critical and dialogic dynamism and to produce fruitful acculturation knowledge in light of the faced impediments and obstacles?
