Abstract EN

This study comprised a short theoretical account of the subject of Israelites and a practical handling of the topic.

It deals with two narrators who were widely known for their Israelites, namely: Abu Al-Aliya and Abdulmalik ibn Jareej, and clarifies the negative as well as positive aspects of their itineraries.

The discussion then draws on the tales of these two narrators in Sahih Al-Bukhari and ends up by exploring the latter’s method of reference to them.

The most important finding of this study is that Israelites are all that is taken from Bani Israel (Jews and Christians) and that they are very limited in the books of Sunnah.

The legal statute of these narratives is related to their three divisions: (1) what we understand to be true on the basis of what confirms it from the proofs we have; (2) what we understand to be false on the basis of what invalidates it from the proofs we have; and (3) what has not been said, either of this or that type, and we neither believe it nor disbelieve it, but we can recount it.

The Israelites that can be narrated do not lead to the weakening of the narrator, as this study has shown.

Imam Bukhari has followed an accurate approach in referring to the narrators of Israelites.

His approach is based on careful selection from the elders of narrators, their students and their narratives.

On close examination of the narratives of Abu Aliya Al-Rriahi and Abdulmalik ibn Jareej in Sahih Al-Bukhari, we found out that they are totally devoid of Israelites, that Al-Bukhari has followed an accurate approach in dealing with narrators known for the abundance of Israelites in their works, and that he neither refrained from referring to them nor denigrated them, but rather accurately selected from their narratives
