Abstract EN

Mohammed Ahmed Al-Azab (1932-2011) depended on “sentence repetition” of different kinds and various shapes, in an unprecedented way compared with other poets.

So we can say that repetition in general and sentence repetition in particular was the aesthetic and stylistic feature distinguishing his poetry, and here comes the importance of this study as, it tries to explore this side in detail within the framework of a comprehensive view which reveals its textual and semantic functions.

The study found out that repeated sentence patterns mentioned in the poetic texts are different in their kinds and shapes, whether they occurred in the title or conclusion and in the distance between them and their occurrences and their correlation in the same poetic text.

It also found out that this diversity and difference served various functions in the communication of meaning and cohereance of the poetical text.
