Abstract EN

Wood is a natural substance known to man since prehistoric times and still exploited heavily in all life activities, and because it was more material attached to human civilization as a utilitarian inside buildings and residences, offices and furniture industry and others.

Wood entered all utilitarian design in construction, architecture, interior design and plastic and aesthetic composition of flat and three-dimensional products of entertainment and music fields.

Dealing with timber for non-specialists, designers, engineers, students of technological institutes requires previous knowledge and expertise of maximum limits for these natural substances whether as raw or processed material .This research does not treat techniques of processing timber due to an abundance of numerous books and references covering this issue while focuses on treatment fine and technical capabilities of the timber as a functional utility, which is necessary to the student to benefit of the characteristics of that material, which entered all fields of life in the creative design and development of the functional forms of the models mass produced or pure, in addition to giving information related to those crafts and industries and applications in all the different activities.

The diligent search for the exploitation of timber and waste manufacturing led to discover materials derived from wood and discover latent potential in shaping the wood products were not previously exist.
