Abstract EN

The study aimed to observe the quality of the programs of libraries and information that are academically accredited in Egypt, by focusing on the program of the B.A.

of Libraries, Documentation and Information at Assiut University, based on the reference standard for library and information programs for Arab universities issued by the Arab Federation of Libraries and Information in November 2016.

The study used the descriptive-analytical approach which is based on the self-evaluation method, by assessing the reality of the academic accreditation of the program, based on the sub-criteria of the reference criteria for library programs.

The study discovered a relative decrease in the total number of the rate of applying secondary standards as well as a low level of availability of the standards of scientific research, community participation and the relationship of the program to society.

On the other hand, the criteria of designing the educational program and curriculum turned out to be the highest sub-criteria available and applied to the program.

Consequently, the study recommends the following: the importance of paying attention to Arab libraries and information departments in general and in particular of Egypt in reviewing their programs in the light of the reference standard for library and information programs of the Arab universities
