Abstract EN

The research aimed to estimate the total cost, medium and marginal cost, volumes and economic optimization production of rain feed lentil in the first zone of Aleppo governorate using econometric models.

Linear regression analysis of a single equation was applied to explain the relationship between amount of production as an independent variable and the value of production costs as the dependent variable.

Results of analysis indicated to the presence of deviations between the production of lentil and actual amount of optimization production due to rising total, medium and marginal costs.

The marginal cost of lentil as amounted to 34.39 sp per kg at the level of the middle production, while the cost per kilogram in light of the current production amounted to an average of about 36.6 sp per kg (average productivity of lentils amounted to about 1187 kg/ ha).

This means that the production of lentil in this area is still at the stage of yield increasing capacity and the farmers did not reach to the optimal production capacity which estimated to be 1513 kg/ha, and this indicates the deviation of the actual average production for the optimal size of the production by -326 kg / ha, and there is a loss in the cost of one kg by about 2.21 sp per kg.

It was concluded that the farmer can reach to the optimal size of production, when he achieves a net profit of 31,323 sp per ha instead of 15349 sp per ha.
