Abstract EN

The aim of this study was to identify the kind of cognitive style )risk, caution( as well as the locus of control )internal, external( among University of Sharjah students during the academic year 2016-2017, and to reveal the relationship between them according to the gender variable.

To achieve this goal, two scales were developed: the cognitive style )risk, caution( scale, and the locus of control scale )internal, external(.

The scale validity and reliability were verifed using a random sample of )300( male and female students.

Results indicated that the cautious method was the prevailing cognitive style and the locus of control in students was internal.

Also, gender played a role only in the cognitive style in favor of males.

A moderate positive relationship between the cognitive method and the locus of control was also found.
