Abstract EN

The main aim of this study was to investigate the nature of the relationship between Eco- tourism and sustainable development in Libya.

In terms of that, it aimed to represent the significance of the tourism sector in the future of development in the Libyan economy, in addition to discover the influence of adopting the Eco- tourism patterns on the sustainable development in Libya .

Furthermore, the study attempt to concentrate on the issue of to what extent the environment protection standards are being practiced in Libya nowadays.

Moreover, it tried to find out the most important obstacles of Eco-tourism in Libya, and to introduce some suggestions to deal with these challenges as well .

In order to achieve the mentioned objectives, a descriptive analytical approach was used .

The basic findings of the study indicated that the tourist sector could play a major role in developing the Libyan economy.

In addition, it pointed out to the high levels of pollution in the coastal regions in Libya, which can be a real challenge to the future of tourist development inthis country.

According to the main results the study recommendations focused on the improvement of the coastal environment, in particular the issue of bio diversity.
