Abstract EN

This study aims to explore the degree of spreading behavioral problems among children of residential institutions in Ibb city.

It also aims to examine the range of problem differences in terms of the following variables: gender, type of privation from parents, cause of residentiality, age of the child during entering the institution, and period of accommodation.

The sample of the study consisted of (50) children: (25) males, and (25) females, their ages range between (6- 19) years.

To achieve the objectives of the study, the researcher used behavioral problems scale (prepared by the researcher) which consisted of (6) subfields; hyperactivity, distraction, aggressive behavior, deviated social behavior, social withdrawal, and nonobedience.

The results indicated that all the behavioral problems spread among children of residential institutions are highly significant, exceeding hypothetical means for spreading those problems.

However, the results revealed that there were statistical differences at (a = 0.05) in the degree of spreading some problems; hyperactivity, distraction, aggressive behavior and the total degree were attributed to gender, being in favor of females, and there were no statistical differences at (a = 0.05) at the degree of spreading other problems (deviated social behavior, social withdrawal and nonobedience) were attributed to gender.

Finally, there were no statistical differences at (a = 0.05) attributed to other variables.
