This study aimed at proposing educational foundations to activate the role of Jordanian universities in developing the political awareness of their students in light of the Arab Spring, and their relation to self-autonomy.

The population of the study consisted of all public Jordanian universities for the academic year 2013/2014.

Three universities were chosen, distributed on three régions: Mu’tah University in the south région, Jordanian University in the middle région, and Yarmouk University in the north region.

The total number of the students in these universities was (91019) male and female students.

The sample of the study consisted of (384), students from both sexes.

They were drawn by using proportional stratified random sample method.

A questionnaire was used to collect data.

It consisted of two parts: the first was to find out the role of the universities in developing the political awareness, while the second was to find out the role of these universities in developing the self-autonomy of the students.

Means, standard deviations, ranks, Pearson Correlation Coefficient, Cronbach-Alpha, and factor analysis were used as statistical tools to manipulate data.

The findings of the study were as the following, - The domains of the role of Jordanian Universities in developing the political awareness, according to students’ responses, were ranked as the following: students’ activities role, with a mean of (3.55), courses role, with a mean of (3.48),and faculty staff members’ role with a mean of (3.46).

- The domains of the role of Jordanian Universities in developing self-autonomy, according to students’ responses, were ranked as the following: courses role with a mean of (3.37), faculty staff members role with a mean of (3.28) and students activities role with a mean of (3.27).

- There was a positive significant relationship at (a <0.05) between the degree of Jordanian universities role in developing the political awareness and the degree of their role in developing self-autonomy.

The Person correlation value was (0.197).

Among the recommendations were the following: - Reinforcing the role of public Jordanian universities in developing the political awareness of students, by including a suitable course in students program.
