Abstract EN

This paper tries to answer the object of the custum presence in traditio nal Algerian society in light of the cultural system approaches; we treat it both in theory and practice within the contemporary Algerian novel.

Analysing the novel « Lailat Houroub Fadjra » (The Night of the Escape of the Fajra Escape), we picked up that the custum has an absolute power in the Algerian traditional society, that may qualify it to become a cultural and rhetorical type that contributes in standardizing this society.

We noticed how the custum in Sahara society became a strict social rule in the questions of marriage, women's rights, freedom, the tyranny, and also in the con cept of love, religion rites and all thier uses in protecting of this society.
