Abstract EN
North Atlantic Treaty Organization (NATO) has united Western Europe and maintained its security for more than 40 years, contributing to the end of the Cold War, the dissolve of the Warsaw pact and even the collapse of the Soviet Union.
This collapse was followed by rapid shifts within the alliance as a result of the loss of the main reason for which the alliance was found, and the escalation of demands to dissolve the alliance because there is no longer need for its existence.
The greatest evolution of the NATO after the Cold War at the strategic level was the transformation of the Alliance from a rigid (static) defense force to an aggressive force carrying out military campaigns outside the borders of Europe.
The alliance deployed military forces in vast areas far from the alliance's operations sectors before the Cold War.
Thus, the NATO changed its main mission and expanded outside Europe to cross the geographical boundaries within which it operated.
NATO's expansion and its involvement in military operations all over the world have weighed on the budgets of both the United States and Europe, although European countries contribute only a fraction of the budget.
The failure of European countries to share the burden could affect the Alliance's future as a political and military force.
The research highlights NATO's future and its role in the light of the new strategic concept and the clear disagreement between the United States and Europe over post-Cold War burden-sharing.
The research was divided into an introduction, three sections and a conclusion.
The first section dealt with the impact of The future of the NATO under the America- European disputes .
While the second section discussed the impact of economic factors on the future of the alliance, and finally the third section highlighted the extent the of success of the new strategic concept of the alliance.
