Abstract EN

This study aims at investigating the impact of regular education on Arabic calligraphy of students of religious schools (khalawi).

the study also targets diagnosing the norms of writing and Arabic writing in Sudanese religious schools.

the study has adopted the structural content analysis approach in its procedures regarding the description and analysis of samples/ models of the study as represented in students’ writing slabs.

these are regular samples that have been selected via the purposive approach with a size of six samples.

three of the samples belong to students who have not joined school prior to joining the religious schools, while the other three samples belong to students who have joined schools before they joined the religious schools.

the observation has been applied as an instrument in the procedures related to description and analysis of the study samples/ models.

the most important findings of the study are represented in the fact that regular education of students before joining the religious schools has not impacted the quality of their Arabic writing.

the study has also concluded that the general method of writing in the samples under study have not abided by specific methodology or criteria of writing with regard to length and dimensions of letters and also with regard to holding the pen, noting that some words and structures have been either obliterated or interlaced without observing the rules of linking letters.
